Assembly

I assume it can't come in one piece. What's assembly like?

Correct- it is delivered in four sections: Headboard, Footboard and two side rails. Assembly is fairly easy, the pieces interlock together and then are reinforced with wood screws in each corner. You will need a drill to start the screws into the wood.

Veneer??

The description mentions seeing "the distinctive grain of the wood" for this bed. Is the distinctive grain a veneer? How much of this bed frame is covered with veneer wood?

Yes, it’s veneer. All of it is covered with the veneer except for the spots that will not show. I’m really picky and I like it. I got this to go with some older solid wood cherry furniture and it matches great. It looks like the expensive stuff.

Panel bed storage?

The 360 degree tour of the Copenhagen shows two storage drawers on the left side of the bed but the online description doesn't say anything about this. Does it come with them, are they an option, or no longer available? If they come with it, then I would think a box spring would make the mattress height too tall.

There's a king sized but the title has to say with drawers. I had a queen before, and the drawers were on both sides

mattress -- does this bed require a "box spring?

I have a 6" thick Swedish foam mattress that normally sits on cross members -- without any box spring or anything else. Would that work here? I prefer the top of the mattress to not be stop high.

If you purchase the bed without the drawers, it will require a foundation. The flat board foundation is what they said will work, but I used my old box springs and mattress and it was perfect. The thin board they also sell, if you want to be low in the bed, then that will work, but I prefer the regular foundation for the additional cost if you don't have box springs/foundation they call it today.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Looking and Well Made Bed The Copenhagen bed is very solid and looks great with the taller headboard than other beds, so that it is not hidden when pillows are stacked against it. There are three wooden slats that support the box springs and these have legs going to the floor, plus edge support strips on the frame, so the box springs are well supported. There was some minor separation in the leg joinery, Living Spaces made an adjustment for this defect and we decided to keep the bed. I would highly recommend this bed to anyone looking for one that has clean lines and works with several styles (transitional, traditional, cottage, farmhouse, etc.) Also, Living Spaces' customer service and delivery teams are excellent. Very happy with this purchase.

The classic styling will stand the test of time. On a side note, the delivery guys were awesome. Definitely "White Glove" and super professional.
